ISO 45001 – Occupational Health & Safety Systems
Protect your workforce and build a safer workplace with ISO 45001 certification from AxisCert — Singapore’s accredited Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) certification body. ISO 45001 is the global benchmark for workplace safety management, and with Singapore’s Workplace Safety and Health Act setting rigorous expectations for employers, certification has never been more important. AxisCert’s experienced auditors help you implement a robust, proactive OH&S Management System that prevents work-related injuries, meets MOM regulatory requirements, and demonstrates your duty of care to every person in your workplace.
ISO 45001:2018 is the international standard for Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems (OH&SMS), developed by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and adopted by organisations across more than 130 countries. It replaces the former OHSAS 18001 standard and introduces a more proactive, risk-based approach to workplace safety — requiring organisations not only to respond to incidents but to anticipate and eliminate hazards before harm occurs.
Built on the same Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) framework shared by ISO 9001 and ISO 14001, ISO 45001 integrates safety thinking into the organisation’s overall management structure. It requires top management to take direct leadership responsibility for OH&S performance, actively involves workers at all levels in hazard identification and risk assessment, and drives a culture of continuous safety improvement. This approach aligns closely with Singapore’s Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) Act and the Ministry of Manpower’s (MOM) national workplace safety objectives.
Significantly reduced workplace incidents
A proactive, risk-based OH&SMS identifies hazards before they cause harm — reducing lost-time injuries, near misses, and the substantial human and financial costs associated with workplace accidents.
Demonstrated compliance with Singapore’s WSH Act
ISO 45001 provides a structured, certified framework aligned with the Workplace Safety and Health Act and MOM requirements — reducing legal exposure, enforcement risk, and potential prosecution under Singapore’s workplace safety legislation.
Improved employee morale, wellbeing, and retention
Employees who feel safe and genuinely valued are more productive, more engaged, and significantly less likely to leave. ISO 45001 certification sends a clear, credible signal that your organisation prioritises the wellbeing of every member of its workforce.
Lower insurance premiums and reduced liability
A certified, systematic approach to OH&S management demonstrates due diligence — which can lead to reduced workers’ compensation premiums, lower overall liability exposure, and favourable treatment from insurers.
Competitive advantage in tendering and procurement
ISO 45001 certification is increasingly a mandatory pre-qualification criterion for government contracts, main contractor appointments, and MNC supply chains in Singapore — particularly in construction, engineering, manufacturing, and facilities management.
